Pressure on Vettel mounts: 'We know he's capable'

Sebastian Vettel made the switch to Aston Martin last season. Although expectations were high, the German ended up finishing no further than 12th in the world championship. In 2022, however, the team hopes to do better.

The British racing stable brought Vettel to the team in 2021 to take advantage of his experience, among other things. Throughout the year, Aston Martin benefited from Vettel's knowledge and improved the car. In addition, Vettel was able to contribute to the 2022 car, which will look completely different due to the new regulations.

In this way, Aston Martin hopes to serve Vettel even better next season and win the battle in the midfield. The team hopes that Vettel, together with Lance Stroll, will be able to offer resistance and thus end up in the points more often this calendar year. "It will be crucial for Aston Martin to have Vettel, a 53-time winner carrying invaluable experience, back to his best, if they are to work their way back towards the top of the midfield," the medium judged. "We know he's capable, we know the competitive fire is still there, but the 34-year-old needs to get off on the front foot in this new breed of F1 cars and build up some momentum in 2022."
