The
Russian Grand Prix was a memorable race.
Max Verstappen started from the back of the grid due to an engine change along with
Valtteri Bottas and
Charles Leclerc. In the end
Lewis Hamilton won the race, followed by Verstappen on P2 and
Carlos Sainz on P3.
Who is the GPblog Driver of the Day?
The global viewers of
Formula 1 voted massively for
Lando Norris as Driver of the Day. The
McLaren driver led for a long time, but a few laps before the end it started to rain. Norris decided not to come in for intermediates, so he ended up only on P7. It was a dramatic end for the team.
Hamilton eventually ran away with the win, but he was surprised by Verstappen who drove from P20 to P2. Sainz also managed to finish on the podium after his second place in qualifying. Bottas struggled to get going, but drove from P16 to P5.
Russell and Ricciardo
George Russell didn't last long at the front of the grid after his great qualifying result, but again the Brit managed to score a point for
Williams.
Daniel Ricciardo also did well. The Australian lost a lot of time due to a bad pit stop, but still managed to finish on P4. He kept Hamilton behind him for a long time, allowing teammate Norris to build up a nice lead. Vote for your 'GPblog Driver of the Day' in the poll below.
