With Saturday's qualifying being held on a wet track, all drivers have a free choice of tyres for the Russian Grand Prix. Pirelli therefore have many different options and the Italian tyre supplier predicts that we will see all three tyres on the grid.
According to Pirelli there are three strategies that are about the same speed. The fastest would be to start on the yellow tyre and finish on the hardest tyre, the white. The strategy that should be about as fast is the reverse of the first. The alternative is to start on the softest tyre, come in earlier and finish on the hardest.

As there was no driving on Saturday morning, all drivers have all types of tyres left. The majority of the grid have a single set of the white tyre, two yellow sets and three sets of the softest tyre. Max Verstappen is an odd man out, as he has an extra set of the white tyre. He could therefore start on the hardest tyre and then see how the race plays out for him.
