After the European part of the season began, the current tripleheader in Formula 1 continues with the Monaco Grand Prix this weekend. Championship leader Oscar Piastri looks forward to weekend in the principality as well.
"It's a circuit I enjoy," the McLaren driver began at the press conference, after he eventually finished in third place at the Emilia-Romagna GP.
In 2024, Piastri missed out on taking the first Triple Crown victory of his career in Monaco, finishing behind Charles Leclerc.
"Last year was a really good weekend for me, so hopefully we can go one better this year. That would be nice, but it’s going to be interesting to see how these — well, it’s the same tyres as this weekend — but how they perform in a very different environment like Monaco. And then obviously a two-stop race. So, yeah, let’s see. But I think confident that we’ll be quick and try and go again."

Two-stops required in Monaco during the race

As Piastri already hinted at the aforementioned fact, for the only time in the 2025 season, drivers will have to make two stops at least, instead of a single one. Of course, a minimum of two compounds will also have to be used.
At the Monte Carlo track, track position will even be more important than it was in Monaco, where into the first corners, he lost the lead to Max Verstappen.
Eventually, the Australian finished in third place at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, after also having to overtake many cars on a different strategy.
Reflecting on the Dutchman's move, the Australian said: "I definitely would have done something different. I would have braked ten metres later probably. Yeah. That’s all. Live and learn."
Heading into the Monaco GP, Piastri still leads in the drivers' standings. After seven rounds, he had completed 13 more points than Norris, and 22 more points than his Dutch rival.
