Oscar Piastri is back to winning ways, taking victory in the Qatar Sprint and closing in on his teammate in the championship standings.
“Everything went smoothly in the Sprint there, so I’m happy with how it’s been so far and just need to keep it rolling"

Speaking immediately after the race, the Australian said he was finally satisfied to be back in victory lane, following his pole yesterday in Sprint Qualifying: “It’s been a good weekend so far. Everything went smoothly in the Sprint there, so I’m happy with how it’s been so far and just need to keep it rolling.
“It’s obviously a very different circuit to where we have been, much higher speed, much higher grip, but I think the last couple of weekends has just been things going wrong rather than a lack of pace. Here, everything’s gone smoothly so far, and the pace has been strong. It’s a track I’ve enjoyed in the past, and I’m enjoying it again, clearly."
Turning the focus to tomorrow’s race — the real target and a prime opportunity to claw back crucial points on his teammate — Piastri outlined what his ideal approach will be: "Ideally if we can find more pace... I think everyone slowly finds a little bit more through Sprint weekends, so you've got to try and get every bit out of the car you can.

“We will try to do that but our base performance seems pretty strong around here so it's more just tuning than trying to reinvent the wheel."

Piastri back to win in Qatar as Verstappen loses ground to Norris

The Australian finally returned to victory on the same track where he claimed his first career win two years ago, most importantly closing the gap to his teammate by just two points.
Norris finished the race in third, with George Russell once again very solid, managing to slot in and keep pace with the two McLarens. Fourth went to Max Verstappen, who made a brief early-race attack but ultimately couldn’t match the pace of his title rival.
