Piastri cursing out Alpine wrong? 'My Austrian GP weekend was derailed by them'

In the Austrian Grand Prix, Oscar Piastri vented some comments regarding Alpine on the radio. Now, during media day in Silverstone, the McLaren F1 driver explains where the frustration heard in his chat to his race engineer came from.

Despite bagging a P2 in Spielberg, Piastri was not a happy man, believing that McLaren's strategic decision-making might have been better, and with former team Alpine, via its drivers, hindering his race weekend.

Regarding the French team, the Aussie driver took to the radio after being forced out of the track by Argentine Franco Colapinto and said: “Alpine still finds a way to fuck me over all these years later.”

Asked if whether or not he had given any thought to Alpine after the candid comments he made during the race, the Australian told media present at Silverstone, including GPblog: "No, not really. It's just obviously a long time ago now [since he had anything to do with the French team]."

Regarding a potential regret over the comments, Piastri did not appear to have any.

"I think the comments on the radio, it's just a kind of coincidence that qualifying was obviousIy an Alpine [who caused the yellow flag which forced him to abort his lap] and then I got impeded by both [of their drivers] in the race to an extent, so it was more just a coincidence."

"No I've not really thought about it much recently. Obviously when I joined Formula 1 there was the comparisons and the directions that each team has taken, but now I honestly haven't thought about it for over 12 months probably" concluded the championship leader revealing it took him about two years to get over the rockus caused by the complicated contractual situation that derived in the driver being signed by McLaren.

Piastri currently leads the world championship ahead of teammate Lando Norris, whereas Alpine can't seem to get out of the tough spot they are in with the ever-present reshuffling nature in the leadership of the French team continuing to have a resounding impact in its structure.
