It has been a mixed season for Red Bull driver Sergio Perez. In the first races of the season, the Mexican was in a good flow, winning two of the first four Grands Prix. After that, things slowed down, and he often failed to come close to teammate Max Verstappen. All's well that ends well. Perez cashed P2 in the world championship. The driver from Guadalajara reflects.
"I think it's a good result for the team as an all. As I always say, it only matters where you finish in Abu Dhabi," Perez said to GPblog and others. "That [the second place in the championship] has been the main thing, to be able to contribute to the team in this way. I think it's a good one."

Perez's areas for improvement in RB19

When Perez was asked how he improved over the course of the season, the Mexican mostly talked about his improved car knowledge. "It's about how I was making use of it and how I can make better use of it through the weekend, through different circuits and all of that. I think I made a lot of progress together with my engineer in understanding how to maximise the performance of the car," the driver explained.
When Perez, midway through the season, went into a slump, he and the technical team tried to improve a lot on the RB19. "We were probably taking the wrong approach with the car and trying to compensate it too much with car setup. Ultimately just getting lost weekend in, weekend out," admitted the driver.
