Ocon: 'I want to thank Fernando, because this victory is also due to him'

Sunday 1 August 2021 is the day Esteban Ocon will never forget. The Frenchman had a flawless race and ended up in first place. He never gave this place away, despite the pressure from Sebastian Vettel.

"What a moment! It feels so good. It's the first win since Renault came back to Formula 1. We had some tricky moments in this season, but we got over them. We already had fantastic speed at Silverstone. What can I say? It was great. I also want to thank Fernando, because this victory is also because of him," Ocon said after the race.

"Big thanks to the team. To all the time they put into me. In difficult moments when you don't get out of Q1. We are back where we belong. Sebastian was very fast the whole race, he gave me a lot of pressure. But we kept him behind us," concluded the Alpine driver.
