There's no doubt about it. Lando Norris is one of the big stars of the season. With their McLaren team, he and teammate Daniel Ricciardo are currently third in the constructors' title standings. The emphasis here is on 'for the time being,' because the difference with pursuer Ferrari is only three and a half points. According to Norris holding on to third place is going to be a hell of a job.

Ferrari has the upper hand

Third place in the final standings would give McLaren a big boost ahead of 2022 as well as a hefty pot of prize money. But it will be shuddering. "At the moment they have the edge on us, both in Qualy and in the race," Norris lamented at SkySports. "and that's not a nice position to be in so late in the season."

Although Ferrari's main focus is on the 2022 car, the Italians have made several upgrades recently. Most notable is the upgrade of the engines. For the first time in a long time, Ferrari did not have to accept a grid penalty because of an engine change. At the end of the day, Ferrari was significantly faster than McLaren. "The last few races they've been very fast," Norris continued, who himself finished eighth behind both Ferraris. ""We'll have to push hard, try and find some extra little things for improvements. We definitely need to try and find something to try and counter the attack."
