Other than England, Lando Norris has another country close to his heart at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The McLaren F1 driver also supports Belgium due to his mother's heritage. Norris was born in Bristol and competes under the British flag for McLaren in
Formula 1, but also has ties to another country. Norris' mother, Cisca Norris, is from the Flanders region of Belgium.
Belgium have had a rocky start to the tournament with two draws against Egypt and Iran, while England enjoyed a strong opening match in the United States and will take on Ghana this evening.
Speaking to GPblog, among others, he said about the ongoing FIFA World Cup: "Of course I support England. And I know a good amount of the boys in England." The reigning Formula 1 world champion also recently appeared in a video with Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice, who is also a key player for the Three Lions.
He continued: "So I support them because that's the most personal thing. I know my mum will want me to say Belgium at the same time! And I know that Belgium are quite often a very strong team.
"So to please my mum, I'll say Belgium versus England [for the final]. I also love to watch Argentina, [Lionel] Messi, [Cristiano] Ronaldo, Portugal. It's always good to see all these players play for a country."
Hamilton warns against singing "It's coming home"
Hamilton believes that England fans should wait to sing “It’s Coming Home” until the Three Lions
actually win the World Cup. After the opening group-stage match, in which England national football team defeated Croatia 4–2, the song had already made an appearance, as it serves as the team’s victory song.
Hamilton explained to GPblog, among others, ahead of the tournament: "I don't have a prediction, I don't follow it that much, that close to be honest. I'm more into MotoGP and NFL, but I mean I will tune in every now and then and I will always keep a close eye on what England is doing.
"I just hope we don't sing 'It's Coming Home' too early because that's what we normally do. Sing it once we've got it, not before. It's a great song, but jeez!"
