Norris not world champion material? F1 analyst Windsor takes firm stance

Formula 1 analyst Peter Windsor tried to answer the question of how Zak Brown should handle Lando Norris now, given Oscar Piastri’s rise and a standings gap that sees the Brit almost a full Grand Prix behind in terms of points.
After delivering the Constructors’ title to McLaren last year with a brilliant final race, many believed Lando Norris had finally taken that mental step needed to become a true title contender in 2025. That goal is still within reach, of course—but the road there is proving far more difficult than expected.
The Brit had closed the gap in the standings with a stunning win at the Monaco Grand Prix, but a costly mistake in the closing stages of the Canadian GP — one that involved his own teammate — widened the gap once again in the Drivers’ Championship. He now trails by 22 points, nearly the equivalent of a full Grand Prix.

What Zak Brown should do with Norris?

It’s a gap that can certainly still be closed, with fourteen races to go — but with Piastri in such strong form, it’s now harder to picture Norris as a world champion by the end of the season.
Norris’s ongoing lapses in concentration and inconsistent performances have led many to believe that Piastri might actually be the better bet—at the expense of the number 4. So what should Zak Brown do now? Keep backing both drivers equally, or start throwing more support behind one of them?
F1 analyst Peter Windsor attempted to answer that very question on his YouTube channel, responding to a fan: ''Lando is indeed world championship material, we all know that. He's very very good but at the moment Oscar is doing a much better job''.
''I believe the amount of time and money and energy that Zac has spent on Lando and that applies in reverse as well. I don't believe Zac will suddenly say to Lando Norris ''I don't think you've got what it takes, mate. I don't think you can win a world championship. I'm putting all my effort into Oscar Piastri. So, in answer to your question, I think no''.
