Norris: 'Maybe there's a rule is needed for that'

Daniel Ricciardo is unhappy about how some drivers deal with the so-called gentleman's agreement. This means that during qualifying drivers do not overtake each other late in the lap to start a fast lap.

In recent Grands Prix, qualifying seems to have become increasingly messy. In Austria last weekend it was the same thing again. Drivers all want to get on track at the same time to do the perfect lap. After a slow in-lap, there is often a traffic jam at the last two corners. Normally every driver waits for each other, but nowadays more and more drivers don't care about this and force the pace.

Ricciardo is not a fan of these front-row drivers. "I think at the end of day, like if someone's been a bit cheeky and taken advantage of the situation that we've agreed, then that driver or those drivers should maybe just expect a bit of s**t to come their way at some point," he said at Motorsport.com.

Lando Norris agrees with his McLaren teammate and is already thinking about a rule on the forcing of traffic. "I don't know if a rule needs to be in place, but maybe it does because people can just get caught out for no reason." Norris confirms that the problem will be named in the next driver briefing.
