Norris gaining confidence: 'Can just focus on my driving'

During the Grand Prix weekend in Austria, McLaren brought a major upgrade. This proved to benefit as both Lando Norris, and Oscar Piastri managed to finish high at the following Grand Prix-weekends

Norris is happy with the upgrades, because there is a lots of progress. However, according to the Briton, there is always room for improvement, but you can also keep whining. "You always keep complaining, that's the problem," he said.

Norris: "You're always going to have problems here and there, it's a combination of different things. If this all gets better, it will be a big step for us and at the same time take away our weaknesses."

The Briton has finished inside the top five in the last three races, even taking two podium spots at P2. Although the car is not yet moving exactly the way Norris prefers, these results are good for his confidence. "It's how I want to be able to drive and push the car. But it has improved my confidence, I guess," says the Briton.

He additionally compares the car to last year. He describes the previous car as inconsistent. In addition, he often did not know what exactly the problem was when something was going on. Now he says he is much less bothered by that.

"Now I feel like there's a slightly clearer direction that I need to be working in, which is a good thing. I can just focus on more simple things with my driving. Little things like this help be here today. It improved my confidence quite a bit. Not to the level that I still want, but to go out and drive how I want and feel confident. Just drive freely and not have to think about it too much." says Norris
