Piastri gets big a compliment from Norris: 'Handled the pressure well'

One of the revelations of the 2023 Formula 1 season was Oscar Piastri. The Australian was particularly high profile in the second half of the season. Partly due to his impressive defending against Verstappen, Piastri commanded a lot of respect from F1 fans. Team-mate Lando Norris, therefore, has big compliments for the rookie.

“Oscar had an incredible season," Norris explained on the McLaren website about his teammate. "Keeping calm and being yourself, it’s good to be reminded of that. I think he's been very, very good at dealing with pressure, better than I feel like I remember I was when I started, but I think that’s because everyone's very different with all of this - dealing with pressure and remaining calm and chilled."

"I have a lot of respect for Oscar in how he was able to stay so calm in a new environment, in Formula 1, on the big stage,” concluded the Bristol-based driver. In his debut season in the top class of motorsport, Piastri finished ninth in the world championship, with 97 points.
