Crashes Veekay and Ilott: IndyCar moves kerb and tells no one

A strange situation in IndyCar: during free practice on Friday there was no kerb in turn 5 of the Long Beach circuit, a day later during the second free practice it was suddenly there. The organisers had forgotten to tell the teams that the kerb had been laid down, with all the consequences.
Several drivers were unpleasantly surprised on Saturday when they came racing through turn five. Calum Ilott and Rinus Veekay hit the unexpected kerb and their car flew through the air. Ilott even ended up in the wall in the process, causing considerable damage to his car.

'A joke'

Afterwards, Ilott was furious with the IndyCar organisers. He appeared before NBC's camera and said, "If they did and didn’t tell us, they can pay for the damage, because that’s a joke." Later, Ilott continued on Twitter. In a series of Tweets, for example, he said he expected 'an explanation later today'. He added that in future, it would be better to be tell about such a change in advance. After all, that saves some broken wrists and a high cost. The Tweets have since been deleted.
