Mercedes 'wrestling' with porpoising issues during 2022 F1 winter test

Mercedes has not yet found the perfect balance. According to Craig Slater, the W13 bounces over the asphalt. In fact, all new cars suffer from it to some extent.
In 2022 the regulations were completely changed and so the teams also had to develop new cars. This is all done using computer and the wind tunnel, after which it all just has to come out on the track. For Mercedes this seems to have been a bit of a struggle.

Problem for Mercedes

This season the ground effect plays an important role. With this ground effect, the car is sucked towards the track with the help of aerodynamic tunnels underneath the car. One problem with this, however, is that the air has to stay under the car. The adjustment with the front wing is important for this. At Mercedes, this is not quite right yet.
"Mercedes has been a little bit prone to porpoising. It's getting the right tune between the floor and the front wing, so the air flow doesn't detach," Slater reveals at Sky Sports.
