Mercedes junior takes important step towards F1: 'Worked incredibly hard'

After a successful second season in Formula 3, Mercedes junior Frederik Vesti is making the switch to Formula 2. This was announced by his team ART Grand Prix on social media and the official website of the team.

The 20-year-old Dane will be promoted from ART Grand Prix's Formula 3 team to the Formula 2 team of the same name. Vesti switched from PREMA Racing to ART in 2021 and achieved five podium finishes, including one victory. He finished the season fourth in the championship.

Vesti describes signing his Formula 2 contract as "something really big. We worked incredibly hard in F3 last season and to continue the progress into Formula 2 together is important for my next step," explains the Mercedes junior, who already completed a test in the Formula 2 car in Abu Dhabi.

Vesti will be joined at ART by Theo Pourchaire, who is starting his second year there. "Now it is crucial to understand all the small details of Formula 2 to achieve the maximum in 2022," said the Dane.
