McLaren reveals surprising name for 2023 car

The unveiling of the 2023 McLaren is scheduled for 13 February, but the British team already has news to share. McLaren have confirmed via Twitter what the name of the car for the 2023 season will be.

McLaren will have been active in Formula 1 for exactly 60 years in 2023. Hence the apt name chosen: MCL60. Lando Norris and newcomer Oscar Piastri will race in this car this season.

McLaren are one of the most successful teams in Formula 1. In 1963, the team was founded by Bruce McLaren. Five years later, they celebrated its first Grand Prix victory in Belgium. Eight times McLaren have won the constructors' title, 12 times a drivers' title. Lewis Hamilton was the last to become World Champion in a McLaren in 2008.
