McLaren CEO Zak Brown does have a solution to make the 2023 world championship more exciting again. He sees Red Bull and Max Verstappen dominating this season, but behind Verstappen lies the real excitement. In an interview with the British branch of ESPN, Brown jokingly outlines what he thinks is the way to throw the battle for the world title completely open again.

'Red Bull and Verstappen combination unbeatable'

Speaking to ESPN, Brown began by saying, "As much as Red Bull's killing everyone right now... it's really Max who is killing everyone right now. That Max, Red Bull combination is just unbeatable at the moment, and Max and the team aren't making any mistakes." Max Verstappen has already picked up 10 wins this season, with teammate Sergio Perez driving to victory in the other two races before the summer break. "If they had two Sergios in the car, with all due respect, this championship would kind of be wide open. So you've got something pretty special going on with Max and Red Bull."
Asked if there will be any tension in the world championship this season, the McLaren CEO replied with a wink: "If you take Max out of it and take everyone who's finished second this year and give them a win, it would be a pretty competitive, exciting championship." Brown also knows that the battle behind Red Bull is fierce; McLaren, Aston Martin, Ferrari and Mercedes have all finished second this season.

Exciting races despite Verstappen victories

Despite Verstappen's dominance, Brown does not think this season is boring. "I think one, the races are uber exciting. And it's not just about who wins, right? There's racing throughout the field, and the racing's been awesome."
