Marko is not into records... But now?

Helmut Marko has seen a lot in his long career. The Red Bull Racing adviser is not surprised by a success more or less. But the current season is going so well that Marko is also keen to rewrite the history books.
Max Verstappen captured his thirteenth win of the season in Austin last weekend, equalling the number of wins by Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel. So if Verstappen wins in Mexico, he will be the only record holder. Earlier, the two-time world champion said he was well aware that there are more races in a season these days, so a comparison is difficult to make. Besides - said Verstappen - you also depend on your material.

Incentive

But it would be a nice milestone for Red Bull. The team has already won 15 races, more than ever before in a season. Marko would secretly like Verstappen to take the record for most wins in a year. Speaking to Formel1.de, he says normally does not like records, but now - after several humble years (as he calls it) - he sees it as a nice push for the whole team. He would even consider it to be the highlight of the season.
Next weekend awaits an interesting Grand Prix anyway. Also in Mexico, Red Bull is the big favourite. But which of the two drivers will win it? Verstappen, who is thus on the record hunt? Or is it Sergio Perez, for whom winning the Grand Prix in his home country is the ultimate dream?
