Kevin Magnussen has revealed that Haas did not expect to struggle as much as it has so far in 2019. The American outfit has dropped off dramatically from the sixth place achieved by the Dane in Australia.
Haas team principal Gunther Steiner has admitted the team has found identifying and maintaining an optimum tyre operating window difficult so far, a crucial dynamic this season for all of the teams on the grid.
Speaking after the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Magnussen admitted the struggles have come as a surprise to everyone at the team after a promising 2018 season and opening round of 2019.
“We have some data from there in terms of where the car was working in testing, although temperatures will be a lot different.
"We didn’t expect this kind of start to the season, but all we can do is keep working to resolve our issues – keep looking for a solution.”

After Magnussen's impressive Melbourne finish, Haas has failed to add to their points tally, sitting in eighth position on six points.
