Kevin Magnussen has today retracted a comment which he made prior to the Baku Grand Prix. The interview with the “I want to die” phrase was released yesterday, and Magnussen has since retracted this saying some sources misunderstood his meanings.
He was quoted as saying “I will give everything. I will die in the car.” Some fans went on to take this the wrong way and were further fuelled by Gasly, who suggested Magnussen is the “most dangerous guy I have ever raced with.”
“That interview was done before the race in Baku,” Magnussen said highlighting the fact that it was taken out of context.
“I don’t want to die in a race car, I was expressing my willingness to give absolutely everything in my power to achieve success.”
It seemed fairly obvious to us here at GP blog but did anyone take it a different way? Let us know in the comments!
