Lewis Hamilton wants the FIA to implement a rule to ensure Red Bull cannot already start developing the car for next year, he told Sky Sports. The Briton thinks the current situation is unfair.
"The car is moving in the right direction," said Hamilton, who thinks his team could get close to Red Bull by the end of the year. "ultimately it's likely that bit by bit by the end of the year we will probably catch Red Bull, but that's only because they're probably already focusing on next year's car because they're so far ahead," the seven-time world champion sighed.

Hamilton wants FIA to intervene

Hamilton would like the FIA to introduce a new rule prohibiting teams from starting working on the car for next season ahead of other race teams. "August 1, that's when everybody can start so then no one can get an advantage on the next year, cause that sucks," the Mercedes driver suggests. According to Hamilton, it is also unfair that teams that have a bad car now can put all the work down to reserve and spend the money on developing the next car:"That gives an advantage."
