Charles Leclerc finished second in the virtual Grand Prix of Spain on Sunday evening and was outraged after the race. Not even because number one George Russell wouldn't have deserved it, but because of strange rules in the game.
The F1 2019 game from Codemasters is used for the official Formula 1 Grand Prix, but not every driver is a fan of it. For example, Max Verstappen refuses to participate because of the lack of realism, but for Leclerc the bar is now full as well. The Monegask was given a three second time penalty in the last phase of the race.

Leclerc furious

It was a silly three seconds, because for that penalty Leclerc was virtually in the lead of the race. Russell was in the lead, but had already received a penalty. The penalty for Leclerc in the final laps of the race came hard. Where Russell was always looking for the limits of the track to hit the three-second gap, Leclerc also went into the fog.
Where the Ferrari driver really only had to follow, Leclerc crossed the border and got a penalty. ''The only thing that makes me so angry is that track limit. It doesn't make any sense at all. It really needs to be looked at, because it's just too ugly to look at,'' says Leclerc opposite The Race, although he does acknowledge that Russell was 'just faster and deserved to win'.
