Leclerc expects better reliability in 2023: 'P2 is not enough'

Ferrari had a strong start in 2022, but slumped so much during the season and were so devastatingly beaten by Red Bull Racing that last year is generally considered a mediocre season. Charles Leclerc tried to put 2022 in perspective.

The Ferrari driver was a guest on the F1 podcast Beyond the Grid and discussed the prospects for 2023 while looking back on an eventful season. Last year's number two puts the Scuderia's performance in perspective and, above all, draws many positives from the 2022 season: "It was a very big step forward. We tend to forget from how far we came in 2020 and in 2021."

It did do something good with the team's mindset: "It wasn't enough to win the championship. It made us very critical at the end of the year [...] We were just not as fast as Red Bull's car in the second half. We analysed everything from last year's car to improve that on this year's car, but that is normal. I'm pretty sure the reliability will be a lot better this year."
