Ferrari were favourites for pole position going into the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend and even Friday practice put them on top. They were even on top when the chequered flag dropped, but George Russell crossed the line last and went purple. Leclerc was disappointed to miss out on the feat.

Leclerc P3

Leclerc will start the race from P3, right behind teammate Carlos Sainz and Mercedes driver George Russell. His World Championship rival Max Verstappen starts from P10. Leclerc knows this could be an important chance slip through his fingers.
It's not too bad, but on the other hand we had to get that pole. A huge congratulations to George, it was a great lap from him. I haven't seen it yet, but I imagine it was an amazing lap for him. I will try and overtake him tomorrow," Leclerc told Sky Sports.
On Friday conditions were very hot and it's predicted to be cooler during Sunday's race. FP2 race pace also placed Ferrari at the top and therefore the man from Monaco remains confident.

"I think it's good (pace). We need to focus on ourselves and do a good start tomorrow, and I believe that performance will be good. For the race pace I am confident. There is an opportunity but we will focus on ourselves and do the best result possible," Leclerc said.
