Charles Leclerc has revealed that he expected to be the number two driver at Ferrari when he joined. Having only had one season in Formula 1 so far, compared to his 4-time world championship winning teammate Sebastian Vettel, there is a big gap in experience.
Ferrari have revealed that Sebastian Vettel will get priority over Charles Leclerc if a situation occurs when team orders have to be enforced. Leclerc has said that this was something he knew before he even joined the team.
"That was not news to me and I don't think Mattia said anything exaggerated," Leclerc said to Onestopstrategy.com.
"I already knew it would be like that for a while. For me, it's only logical and understandable,"
"I'm new to Ferrari so it's clear that one driver is preferred in a 50-50 situation. That's what he said, and I totally understand that it's Vettel.

"But that does not mean it always has to be that way. My job is to be so fast that no team order is necessary," Leclerc said.
Leclerc will hope to start the season well and try and establish himself as the quicker driver at Ferrari, otherwise, it will be harder for him to gain the priority status at the team.
