New Force India owner Lawrence Stroll is willing to build a new factory for the Silverstone-based team, as the Canadian billionaire has the ambition to take the team to the next level with some large investments.
German news source Auto Motor und Sport reported that a new factory would cost around 70 million pounds or 90 million dollars which would employ around 140 new people for the team (from 410 to 550 employees).
Stroll’s son Lance is set to come with his father to Force India to drive for the team next to the already confirmed Sergio Pérez, but the team is waiting for the departing Esteban Ocon to announce his plans for next season before announcing Stroll as their new driver.
The location of the new factory will be decided by the end of the month according to reports, and should transfer the entire team there by 2021. The purpose of the move is to have all the team’s employees at the same location, as the wind tunnel currently is about six miles away from the team’s factory.
“We’ll have all the team’s employees under one roof,” team principal Otmar Szafnauer commented.
