Robert Kubica has revealed that a slow puncture prevented him from getting a better result at the Mexican Grand Prix as he finished 18th in his fourth from last race for Williams. Kubica will be moving on at the end of the season, but showed a glimpse of his ability with a terrific overtaking move on teammate George Russell before the puncture hit.
The Pole has endured a tough return to F1 after many years out, but fans were able to see his true talent during the battles with Russell.
However, a puncture ended any further battle with the Brit and relegated him to the back of the field.
Kubica said: "The feeling in the car was much better than yesterday. I managed to make good decisions in the battles, there was a lot going on and I gained a couple of positions at the start.
"George managed to get in front of me as I had a long pit stop, but then I managed to overtake him. It was unfortunate that I had to stop for the second time because of a slow puncture. Thanks for the support from the Mexican fans, it was an amazing atmosphere today."
