Jenson Button: "I've never seen anyone drive a Formula 1 car so fast"

Jenson Button has praised Max Verstappen for the way that he has developed and turned himself into one of the fastest drivers on the grid. In previous seasons the Aston Martin Red Bull racer has been a bit hot-headed but he has really matured over the past season and has proved that he has World Championship potential.

"In my opinion, Verstappen is the fastest driver I have ever seen. I've never seen anyone drive a Formula 1 car so fast," Button said in a radio broadcast from Talksport.com.

"I think he is really very fast, I can't believe that. Last season he made mistakes, as you would expect from a young driver, but he is already doing so well. I really think he is very special," he said.

There is a big group of young drivers who are all competing to be the next dominant World Champion. There is Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris and George Russell who will all be fighting for seats in the top teams when the names of today retire.

With more experience than his peers, Verstappen is in prime position to be the next dominant champion but he may need to switch teams unless Red Bull suddenly improves.

It will be interesting to see what will happen when Hamilton, Vettel and Bottas all retire and seats at the top teams open up.
