The rumour mill surrounding Mattia Binotto 's position as team boss at Ferrari is in full swing, despite both he and the team denying the speculation. Karun Chandhok believes more needs to change than just Binotto's departure to solve the problems.
"Will be a shame to see Mattia Binotto go. Always found him to be interesting & willing to chat," Chandhok writes on Twitter. He praises Binotto for creating the opposite of a culture of fear where fingers are not pointed. As a result, however, he has not made the changes he should have made, the analyst believes.

'Structural change needed at Ferrari'

According to the latest reports, Binotto's place will be taken by Alfa Romeo team boss Fred Vasseur. However, according to Chandok, should he indeed be replaced, it will not be enough to solve the problems within the Italian racing stable. "Changing just the team principal isn’t the answer - they need wider re-structuring," says the former Formula One driver.
He continued: "I wonder if Mattia needs to be shuffled sideways into a technical leadership role - let’s not forget they have designed and produced a very fast car this year. Creating a better operational and development team in parallel with the concept and design is key."
