Haas has officially terminated the contract with driver Nikita Mazepin and title sponsor Uralkali. The 23-year-old driver will have to leave the sport after just one season with the team.

Mazepin's future became uncertain after Russia invaded Ukraine whilst the test days in Barcelona were taking place. Haas immediately removed the logo and colours of Russian sponsor Uralkali. Formula One has torn up its contract with the Russian Grand Prix, and several countries are banning Russian and Belarusian drivers. Who will replace Mazepin will be announced by the team early next week, but the internet is reacting in full to the Russian's departure.

The right decision. Don’t underestimate the ramifications for Haas because they are huge. Financially, they have a massive hole to fill. Competitively, there are some exciting driver options available. Their next steps will be crucial. Wishing the team luck.
