"If anybody had any doubts, they were put to bed in race one"

Martin Brundle saw Lewis Hamilton make history in 2020 with his seventh world title. The British driver is now on a par with Michael Schumacher. Brundle does not yet see Hamilton slow down after fourteen years in the sport.

"For me, what stands out through all of this time is that he's not lost anything in terms of work rate, speed, fitness, race craft, bravery, through all these years," Brundle opens on SkySports.com.

"He's just added experience, knowledge and guile to it all," the former Formula 1 driver continues. According to Brundle, after Hamilton's first Grand Prix in 2007 with McLaren, there was no longer any doubt about how good the then young Briton was.

"If anybody had any doubts, they were put to bed in race one. A moment in my mind is the first corner of the first race, when he went around the outside of Alonso and just showed that he'd got all the confidence in the world," says Brundle.

Hamilton had an incredible first season in Formula 1. He won four races and missed the title by just one point. "But for one bad decision in China he could have his eighth championship right now. I think the team were probably more to blame than he was in 2007," concludes Brundle.
