The Formula 1 season gets underway this weekend, slowly revealing which teams will be fighting for the world title. Jan Lammers expects Max Verstappen to be strong, but thinks we should watch out for Ferrari.
The Dutchman experienced his best year of his career in 2021 by beating Lewis Hamilton to win the world championship. This season his team may have to deal with the new regulations, but he looks very relaxed. Verstappen expressed his confidence in the new season.
That confidence is also present with Lammers. The former Formula 1 driver thinks Verstappen will do well again this year. "I have said before that I wouldn't be surprised if Max will dominate this year," he told NOS Studio Sport. "In addition, with nothing would surprise me if Carlos Sainz becomes world champion."

Lammers points out unpredictability of new season

Not only Red Bull and Ferrari are title contenders, however, as Mercedes and McLaren also still have the potential to compete at the top. Lammers therefore knows that the teams can provide surprises in the 2022 season. "One thing is for sure: it's completely unpredictable."
