Horner on indispensable Perez: 'That's what we need'

Sergio Perez could count on a lot of criticism from the outside world at the beginning of last season. At the end of the year, however, the Mexican managed to develop, so that he now enjoys the confidence of Christian Horner.

The Red Bull Racing team boss emphasized in conversation with Fox Sports that the racing stable cannot perform with Max Verstappen alone. In the last race of last season in Abu Dhabi, Perez showed that he could play a key role, with which Verstappen won the world title.

Horner sees that Perez continues to develop and is ready to hit the high points in the new racing year. "Checo is finally finding his level at the right time. He's very tough, he never gives up," Horner let us know. "Sergio is a great team player. That's what we need in this battle."

Earlier this week, the Brit announced that he was very satisfied with the developments Red Bull was making with the car. As a result, the Austrians look set to start the season well in Bahrain. Whereas qualifying is scheduled for this Saturday, the drivers can prepare for the race a day later.
