Nico Hulkenberg admitted that he was lucky to snatch P8 in the dying laps of Sunday's Belgian Grand Prix as he benefitted from others misfortune.
Hulkenberg managed to stay out of trouble at turn one but lost vital time, and was up against it for the rest of the race.
However, he was able to overtake enough drivers to get himself into the top ten, taking away a vital four points for his and Renault's championship totals.
He said in Renault's post race press release: “It was a difficult race right from the start. I had to take avoiding action at turn one to miss the collisions and we lost some positions there. The midfield was again very close today meaning making back the positions was hard.
“We pitted near the end for Softs and that paid off. We were certainly a bit lucky on those last laps, but that’s racing.”
