Red Bull Racing, with Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen, is working hard to improve the performance of the RB18. Behind the scenes, the Austrians are also working hard to build up Red Bull Powertrains. Christian Horner has high hopes for it, he reveals to Formula1.com.
Last calendar year Red Bull announced that it no longer wanted to be dependent on other engine suppliers. Therefore, it wanted to build its own power source in the future, under the name Red Bull Powertrains. The preparations for 2026, when the new engine regulations come into force, are already in full swing. In fact, Horner is already seeing the first results.
"They are making great progress, it’s exciting times, it's a super-exciting project," says the team boss, who is confident the team will be there. "We've attracted some phenomenal talent from all corners of industry."

Red Bull faces tough challenge

Due to three retirements in the first three Grands Prix, Red Bull has to get down to business this season. The Austrian formation are already well behind Ferrari, a gap which Verstappen and Perez will not easily make up. According to Verstappen, it is therefore important that he knows he needs to impress this weekend in Imola, including during the sprint race.
