Horner clear: 'I dispute it is a safety issue'

Christian Horner doesn't think the FIA should be making sure the problem with porpoising is reduced in the coming months. According to the Red Bull Racing team boss, the teams should solve this themselves, he told The Race.
At the beginning of the season, almost all the racing teams had problems with porpoising, but soon several teams managed to find a solution. Mercedes was one of the few formations that continued to have problems and was therefore searching.
In June, the FIA announced that it was going to intervene. The organisation felt that porpoising could cause dangerous situations on the track and therefore had no choice but to take measures.

Horner does not understand FIA's choice

Horner, however, finds this idea incomprehensible. The Briton understands that it is annoying for drivers when the car bounces while driving, but at the same time he feels that this is the team's responsibility.

"I’d actually dispute it is a safety issue. It’s down to the team how it chooses to operate its car," Horner stressed. "You can remove the porpoising very easily, but that’s at the sacrifice of performance. It’s not the duty of the FIA to ensure that a team is competitive."
