Honda is set to make an engine upgrade for the Canadian Grand Prix later this year, meaning that Toro Rosso will have an extra 27 horsepower by that time.
Toro Rosso managed to turn many heads in Bahrain by finishing fourth, ahead of everyone but Mercedes and Ferrari. Powered by Honda, the engine that had been on the receiving end of so much criticism by McLaren (and Fernando Alonso in particular), Toro Rosso seem to be improving on their performances quite a lot.
Autosport.com has reported that the Japanese engine manufacturers will be installing a new engine upgrade for the Canadian Grand Prix, which will be taking place on June 9th.
"We don't just focus on reliability, but also on performance," Honda technical director Toyoharu Tanabe said.
"It's all about getting the balance down.
"If you ask too much from the engine, you could be in trouble.
"It's an important mix, but it's important to make progress on both ends."
Pierre Gasly outperformed both McLaren cars in his Honda-powered Toro Rosso in both qualifying and in the race, which has left McLaren blushing and has also left the world wondering how much of the blame during the last three years at McLaren could really be laid on Honda.
