Honda: "Able to confirm that the trouble countermeasures were working"

Honda top executive Toyoharu Tanabe says that so far it has turned out to be a difficult weekend for the Japanese engine supplier. In FP2, Max Verstappen didn't get any higher than P7, while all the other drivers who use a Honda engine were outside the top ten.

"Everyone had a hard time," says Tanabe to as.web. Yet the Japanese also have good news. "I was able to confirm that the trouble countermeasures were working."

Quite a few engine parts have been replaced this weekend, only Alex Albon of those four Honda riders hasn't done so.

"I am not yet thinking about whether we might need more parts in the future and the penalty that we will get," continues Tanabe. "In any case, Albon will not get a new one this weekend. Of course, there may be a sudden problem tomorrow and then we will install his third power unit. But as it looks now that is unlikely."

In recent weeks there has been a lot of criticism of Honda, including from Max Verstappen. The Dutchman dropped out in the GP in Monza and in the GP in Mugello with power unit issues. For now, it seems that the problems have been solved.
