Romain Grosjean is recovering from his crash in Bahrain and has now been discharged from hospital. For the upcoming Sakhir Grand Prix he will be replaced by Pietro Fittipaldi, but there is a good chance that we will see him again in Abu Dhabi.

Seems like an eternity

In his column for Sky Sport Deutschland, Nick Heidfeld talks about his experiences with severe crashes. "You know before the impact that you are going to crash. In reality, these moments happen very quickly, of course, but in the car they seem to last forever." This was also confirmed by Grosjean himself, who indicated that a lot of thoughts went through his head during the crash.
Heidfeld says that fortunately he did not experience such an extreme crash as Grosjean. "Grosjean's situation was much more extreme and he will immediately realise that there was a fire. He had to get out of the car as quickly as possible. This is, of course, one of the worst situations imaginable."

Back in the car

Despite the Grosjean crash, Heidfeld does not doubt the safety of Formula 1. "We have been doing this for years and it is not the case that this happens every day." He therefore thinks that a quick return is good for Grosjean. "It is important that Grosjean gets back in the car as soon as possible. I think that this is generally a good recipe, although in the end everyone has to decide for themselves."
