Hamilton's lead has shrunk: 'He'll make mistakes too'

Ralf Schumacher is looking forward to the rest of the Lewis Hamilton vs Max Verstappen duel. In his column for Sky Germany he discusses the title fight, and the fact that Hamilton might face competition from George Russell from 2022 onwards.
In Belgium, Verstappen and Hamilton were not able to compete in a race, but it was Verstappen who was able to make his move. By being faster than Hamilton in qualifying, he eventually caught up to his rival. The gap between the two is now only three points, and that while we travel to Zandvoort.

Hamilton is lucky

''There are eleven races left of the season and the defending champion's lead has melted to a meagre three points. Hamilton is an incredibly experienced, calm driver. But the seven-time world champion must also push to the limit. One or two mistakes will happen to him at some point - and they already have,'' said the former F1 driver.
''But that too is normal. It has nothing to do with nerves. But he has already had a lot of luck this season: Max Verstappen's puncture in Baku, then the Dutchman was dropped in Silverstone and Hungary. If none of that had happened Hamilton would not be close to first place'', Schumacher concludes.
