Hamilton happy with Top 3 finish in Qualifying: ‘We’ve taken a step closer’

Lewis Hamilton was satisfied with finishing in P3 in Friday’s qualifying session at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. While the Mercedes driver made a few smaller mistakes throughout the day in Sector 3, he looked to be confident in his car and will start from the second row of the grid on Sunday.

After qualifying, Hamilton was satisfied with the track and his car. "This circuit is incredible, one of my favourites. Right up there with Silverstone, a legendary layout. It's bumpy, challenging. I have to say a big thank you to everyone back at the factory. We've taken a step closer to these guys this weekend."

The British driver also said that their rivals might still be ahead of Mercedes at the moment, but they have the chance to achieve a good result on Sunday. "They're still a little bit ahead but we'll give it another shot tomorrow. I'll give it my best shot. With this crowd, anything is possible."
