'Ferrari already has a rejection of Lewis Hamilton in its pocket'

One of the most important drivers who does not yet have a contract for 2021 is Lewis Hamilton. The Brit seems to be joining Mercedes, although Ferrari rumours linger around. Those rumours can be thrown away, however.

At least that's what Formula 1 journalist Leo Turrini claims. According to the insider journalist, Hamilton has already rejected Ferrari and the Brit is focusing on a new deal with Ferrari. ''In the summer John Elkann went to Hamilton to check him out and Lewis was still open to it. Later, however, he came back to his words", said Turrini in a video conversation with Sky Sports Italia.

''He has told Ferrari that he wants to stay with Mercedes to break the record of Michael Schumacher and therefore also Ferrari. That came as a disappointment for Elkann, who has indicated that in the coming years they will do everything possible to break his series'', said the journalist.

Whether Ferrari will be able to do so is of course questionable. In the winter test Ferrari didn't seem to have come out of the winter so well and also the face of Sebastian Vettel spoke volumes. The German is not satisfied with his car. Yet many people still rely on deliberately diving into the underdog role, but that doesn't seem very plausible.
