Lewis Hamilton believes that
Ferrari’s advantage so far during the 2018 season is down to an innovative development on the Scuderia’s DRS design.
The reigning world champion is yet to win a race this season and is second in the championship behind
Sebastian Vettel, qualifying behind him for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix also.
Hamilton suggested that the Ferrari’s speed could be down to a new efficient design at the rear of the car.
“They’ve shown they’ve been very quick on the straights. They’ve got a very strong DRS in particular, quite efficient DRS as far as I’m aware.”
“I’ve not looked at the data so I don’t know where they are faster than us and where we’re faster than them but obviously they’ve made a big step forward this year and they are the number one team to beat at the moment.”
While Mercedes did recover pace they were lacking on Friday, they were unable to claim pole position.
Hamilton lines up second behind Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel while teammate Valtteri Bottas will start the Azerbaijan Grand Prix from third.
