Lewis Hamilton admits a day after the Turkish Grand Prix that it was his own decision to stay out. He writes this in a post on his own Instagram page.
The driver stayed on his intermediates for a long time, before coming in for a tyre change just before the end of the GP. After the race the Briton was angry about the decision of his team, but according to Hamilton this is different.

Hamilton takes responsibility

"It isn't true to say I'm furious with my team," stated Hamilton. "As a team, we work hard to build the best strategy possible but as the race progresses you have to make split decisions there are so many factors constantly changing. Yesterday we took the risk to stay out hoping it would dry, it didn't."
In the rest of the message, Hamilton admits that the decision to stay out was down to himself, keeping his team out of the wind. His deficit to Max Verstappen in the world championship increased to six points as a result of his fifth place.
