Haas started the season very brightly and were expected to be the frontrunners for P4 in the constructors’ standings, but things haven’t gone their way, and they have suffered a serious drop in pace in the last few weekends.
They are level with Toro Rosso on 19 points so far this season, and sit eighth in the standings, the same position as they finished last season.
Team boss Gunther Steiner said: “We’ve got quite significant changes. Front wing, floor and all the bargeboard area, we’ve made those updates.
“Obviously, their aim is to go faster, to gain us speed.”
Haas decline was evident in Monaco, when Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen started 18th and 19th respectively, finishing 13th and 15th.

Steiner continued: “A lot of people brought their upgrades to Spain. We decided to bring them to Canada to have a little bit more time, because we’re still a small team and cannot react as quickly as the big ones.”
A big problem for Haas is the form of Romain Grosjean, who still has not scored a point this season.
If the Frenchman can get going, and the upgrades are good, we should see Haas climb up the standings soon enough.
