Romain Grosjean will drive the Gateway oval for the first time this weekend in the IndyCar. For the driver, it was not a foregone conclusion that he would appear on this circuit, as he told in conversation with Motorsportmagazine.com.
The driver had a big accident last season in Formula 1, in which he got out of the car with several injuries. It left him and his family in a state of shock and caused him to reconsider whether he wanted to drive on an oval.
Last month, he and teammate Ed Jones hit the track for the first time. "I would call the ovals an adrenaline pump because you’re on adrenaline all the time and you know, there’s no room for mistakes," Grosjean states. "It’s just always being on that borderline. But that’s cool, and then that’s a nice challenge for me, it was just understanding what the car should do and shouldn’t do."

Champion dreams of Grosjean

Grosjean is enjoying his time in IndyCar and hopes to take new steps in his development in the coming years. "I really enjoy IndyCar. I can feel this chance to be champion. And I would like to be champion one day and to do so, you need to do all the races."
