Max Verstappen topped the second practice session for the
Mexico City Grand Prix, an impressive outing after not taking part in FP1.
Ferrari looked strong with both cars as
Charles Leclerc went second quickest.
Andrea Kimi Antonelli endured a disrupted session with car trouble but finished third ahead of Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton.
George Russell set the sixth quickest time in second practice, just ahead of Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda in seventh.
Fernando Alonso ended up in eighth place for Aston Martin while Carlos Sainz and Lance Stroll rounded out the top 10.
With around half an hour to go, the drivers set quick lap times on the soft tyre, and Verstappen set the pace. Both McLaren drivers lost a lot of time towards the end of their laps in the second practice session.
Leclerc set the pace early on in the session, building on a stellar performance in FP1, topping the timesheets.
The opening minutes of the session were chaotic as multiple drivers ran off the track on a green circuit. a multitude of drivers missed FP1 as rookies got a chance to impress.
This meant some of the grid were playing catch-up in the second practice session. Antonelli had a difficult start to the second practice session, reporting an issue.
The Mercedes driver eventually pulled into the garage eight minutes into the session. Antonelli then returned to the track eight minutes later as the issue was resolved.
