One of the latest sensations on the F1 grid, Franco Colapinto has also been recently linked to a seat at VCARB. If Sergio Perez were to be replaced by a VCARB driver, Red Bull might decide to sign the Argentinian to driver for the Faenza-based team. While Helmut Marko praised the young driver and would like to take advantage of the Williams' driver not having a seat for next year, Colapinto himself doesn't know anything about the situation.
Top advisor Helmut Marko did praise the 21-year-old Franco Colapinto, but also underlined he still has a long-term contract with Williams. However, there is no seat available at the Grove-based team in 2025, as Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon have a contract with the team. So there is a chance of Colapinto having to sit out the upcoming season.
"No, at the moment, I don't understand much of what they are talking about. I don't know from where it came from," Colapinto told F1TV's. "I don't have any seat for next year, and at the moment, I'm not racing Formula 1. I'm probably going to be racing somewhere else. So look, it's going to be maybe a year that I'm not going to be here, but I hope to be showing that I deserve a seat here enough to come back in '26 or '27. It is my goal, and it's why I'm doing what I can race after race," the Argentinian explained.

The difficulty of joining VCARB for Colapinto

While Williams would be willing to loan Colapinto to a different team, but letting him go on permanently is out of question for Williams team principal James Vowles. Meanwhile, something that Marko also sees is that there is also little to gain for Red Bull to train a driver at their junior team that will leave them certainly. Moreover, in Formula 2, Isack Hadjar is currently in second place in the drivers' standings behind McLaren junior Gabriel Bortoleto, competing for Campos.
